Good, old reflections
No idea how this turned out on my feed in Twitter, but I am glad it did. Unfiltered reflections, worth the time. Some particularly that stood out (paraphrased):
- Making less after making a high income is a cheat code for figuring out what you value.
- Money makes us cautious (anxious). The trick is to have more than enough or less than enough in order to take bold courageous steps.
- Writing is one of the most powerful acts in the world but a word of caution – it will expose what you truly deserve.

The Scout Mindset continues
I'm still going through the book. Some more notes, paraphrased: It's clear that accepting mistakes is difficult, especially if you're in a leadership position. Saying "I made a mistake" can make us feel incompetent and challenge our beliefs. So, instead, we often unknowingly deny the reality and may conclude that the mistake wasn't really a mistake. However, when we have a plan to address the situation, the denial tends to disappear. For example, simply figuring out "here's how I would begin my search for a new job" can help cope with reality.
Conceding an argument is another one that makes us feel inadequate. It hurts our ego. Doing so in public further damages our image. However, there is a silver lining to it - conceding an argument earns credit for the person doing so. It makes them more credible in other cases because they have demonstrated that they are reasonable and they don't just stick to their guns for the sake of it.
