Savandurga Hike
After a few weeks of dilly-dallying, we finally made it to the Savandurga hike. Walking on one of the most giant monolithic rocks in Asia turned out as daunting as it looked from the base. A Nandi sat on its peak as we made our way on the rock. There are no ridgelines or even a path to be found—just a good ol' plain rock, and we walked on it.
Honestly, the walk was short—less than 2 km on each side. However, the elevation and constant lookout for the path made it a bit taxing. Before it could take a toll on us, we were already at the peak. Getting down turned out to be trickier. Gear matters, much so as we grow older.
Walkers need to book their slots from the Karnataka Eco Tourism website before making it to the trailhead. The parking is on the temple premises and it is ample. Here are some photos from the trail from my Leica Q2.
