New York or no where

New York or no where

I was determined to hate New York City. But within six hours of landing, the city's hustle and bustle won me over. The very reason I thought I would hate it turned out to be the reason I fell in love with it. The energy that everyone talks about became omnipresent when walking on foot in the city. In the distance of 100ft, I heard 5 different languages spoken. People walking walking with purpose.

It wasn't that different when I returned last week. I took the train out of the airport and my excitement grew as the city grew larger and larger. Seeing the Manhattan skyline, I always wondered if the buildings were developed according to a holistic plan, making it one of the world's best-looking skylines, or if each was developed individually, and they somehow came together to look breathtaking and harmonious.

"Real, live, inspiring human energy exists when we coagulate together in crazy places like New York City" wrote Seinfeld in New York Times in the midst of pandemic when many were putzing about the end of New York city. After visiting places filled with inspiring human energy, like comedy clubs and speakeasies, I can happily report that the city is alive and kicking.

Here're some photos from my time there:
