Hello, hello! I have twenty minutes left before another looong meeting starts on Monday and I think it’s a good time to cram in the last week’s notes.

I am done with the book Vegabonding — and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. It’s the right balance of philosophy and actionable items. Some favourite quotes from the book that I’ve been pondering upon:

“We end up spending the best part of one’s life earning money in order to enjoy a questionable liberty during the least valuable part of it. — Thoreau”

“Money, of course, is still needed to survive, but time is what you need to live. So, save what little money you possess to meet basic survival requirements, but spend your time lavishly in order to create the life values that make the fire worth the candle. Dig?”

“People travel to faraway places to watch, in fascination, the kind of people they ignore at home.”

“The more we associate experience with cash value, the more we think that money is what we need to live. And the more we associate money with life, the more we convince ourselves that we’re too poor to buy our freedom.”

I also got my hands around Variable Fonts. One font file to rule them all. As a matter of fact, even this site is now served by one variable font — FF Meta Variable Demo

I was also digging other premium variable typefaces like Orelo that aren’t boring or conventional and bring a sort of freshness with authority.

In other news, I finished designing a page that commemorates our Rinjani Walk that we did in June 2018. I asked other folks what they thought of the walk and I put their responses together with their portraits taken just after the completion of the walk. I am calling it… A Short Walk in Rinjani
